About Toto
The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The name of the group came from the Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every musical style.
In 1981 Toto's third album Turn Back was a complete failure however, they bounce back with their fourth release Isolation that features two hits, including the title track and Roseanna. The album and their tour made them a household brand all over the world.
After a brief break, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. The album is an departure from the ballads that were featured on previous albums and includes some heavy rock. The album was their first album to go platinum in North America.
When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are financially in trouble. They decide to record a brand new album and change their name a different producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen departs and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. In 1999, the band release Mindfields and begins an extensive tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they travel to Japan where the shows are sold out. Toto's touring group includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
